What Qantas has confirmed
The changes are being introduced in phases. Exact member-specific timing is still pending.
Qantas has announced a new Status Credit rollover and ground-earning program for late 2026, additional tier benefits from early 2027, lifetime milestones during 2027, and retention changes later in 2027. The published sequence is useful, but it is not a member-by-member transition calendar.
Important details are still unpublished. These include the first eligible membership year for rollover, exact member-specific retention timing, rollover rounding, partner earning formulas, qualifying partner details, and several retirement dates.
How rollover actually works
Only Status Credits above the tier attainment threshold are included, then a tier percentage and cap apply.
- Silver: 25% of excess Status Credits above 300, capped at 100.
- Gold: 50% of excess Status Credits above 700, capped at 300.
- Platinum: 50% of excess Status Credits above 1,400, capped at 500.
- Platinum One: 50% of excess Status Credits above 3,600, capped at 500.
The rollover is automatic. Members on Status Hold are excluded from the new rollover, and Points Club Plus rollover credits are excluded from its calculation. Rolled Status Credits count toward annual status, but not Lifetime Status Credits, Bonus Rewards, or Status Accelerators.
Worked examples under the announced formula
- Silver with 400 earned Status Credits: 100 above the 300 threshold, at 25%, gives 25 potential rollover Status Credits.
- Gold with 940 earned Status Credits: 240 above the 700 threshold, at 50%, gives 120 potential rollover Status Credits.
- Platinum with 1,600 earned Status Credits: 200 above the 1,400 threshold, at 50%, gives 100 potential rollover Status Credits.
Retention changes later in 2027
The announced future targets align Silver, Gold, and Platinum retention with their attainment thresholds.
- Silver: 250 Status Credits currently, rising to 300.
- Gold: 600 Status Credits currently, rising to 700.
- Platinum: 1,200 Status Credits currently, rising to 1,400.
- Platinum One: unchanged at 3,600, including at least 2,700 on eligible Qantas-marketed flights.
Silver, Gold, and Platinum continue to require four eligible QF, JQ, or GK flight numbers. Platinum One instead retains the separate 2,700 QF-marketed Status Credit requirement shown above. Qantas describes these retention changes as launching later in 2027, but the membership year when each member moves to the future target is still pending.
Status Credits on the ground
All members will be able to earn up to 140 Status Credits per membership year across ten categories.
The confirmed categories are Credit Cards, Banking & Home Loans, Insurance, Car, Home Utilities, Hotels & Accommodation, Holidays & Experiences, Everyday Shopping, Retail & Lifestyle, and Sustainability.
These Status Credits will count toward annual status and Lifetime Status Credits, but not Loyalty Bonus, Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, Status Accelerators, or challenges. The start date, earning formula, Status Credits available per category, and qualifying partner details are still pending.
Lifetime milestones and new tier benefits
New milestones can bank Platinum years, while additional benefits arrive on a separate timetable.
During 2027, new Lifetime Status Credit milestones at 25,000, 35,000, 45,000, 55,000, and 65,000 will each bank one year of Platinum status. Existing Lifetime Status Credits count retroactively, allowing up to five banked Platinum years.
Banked years do not expire and cannot be transferred. Any unused banked years are forfeited when Lifetime Platinum is reached. Qantas has not yet published the activation process.
From early 2027, Silver members are due one additional Qantas Lounge Invitation. Qantas has also announced tier benefits across Hotels & Holidays, Qantas Marketplace, and Qantas Wine, but benefit values and member-specific issue dates remain pending.
Points Club, Green Tier, and Loyalty Bonus wind-down
Each program has different treatment, so review earned benefits rather than assuming one shared deadline.
- Points Club: earned benefits continue through the following membership year as the program retires.
- Green Tier: members will have 90 days to choose an unselected reward.
- Loyalty Bonus: the benefit retires in 2027.
The exact retirement date, last Loyalty Bonus earn date, and last Loyalty Bonus claim date are still pending. Check your account for already-earned benefits and use the official notices that apply to your membership year.
What to do now, and what to wait for
